Maik Uwe Hinkel – Artistically Shaped, Socially Committed

A Childhood Dream Becomes a Foundation

With the founding of the LIVING BAUHAUS Art Foundation (SbR) in 2012, Maik Uwe Hinkel — raised with a strong artistic education and a passionate pianist — fulfilled a long-cherished dream: not only to enjoy art and culture, but to actively promote them. His aim was to create a platform for artistic exchange and to foster young talent in Berlin and Brandenburg. Since then, he has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to expanding the collection, supporting exhibitions, and initiating charitable projects — embodying a foundation practice with conviction and compassion.

Architecture, Culture, and Responsibility

Maik Uwe Hinkel’s commitment to architecture, art, and civic responsibility is reflected in the connection between the foundation and the building projects of the LIVING BAUHAUS Group. Both share an interdisciplinary ambition to transcend traditional boundaries. Beyond his cultural work, his interests extend to the economic development of Germany and Europe. He regards the LIVING BAUHAUS Art Foundation (SbR) as an investment in future generations — as an institution for art, education, and exchange that is intended to remain effective beyond his own lifetime.
